What is Autism/Aspergers Syndrome?

Autism Spectrum Disorders includes diagnoses of an Autism Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). All three disorders have the same core deficit areas – social interaction, communication and atypical behaviours. These core deficits are characterised by a different style of information processing, Individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder may also have a cognitive impairment.
